The Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) programme is an evidence informed, nationally recognised approach to supporting children and young people with social and emotional needs. This highly regarded programme for teaching assistants will equip them with a robust understanding of social and emotional needs and the skills to be able to plan and implement a range of bespoke interventions to develop the emotional literacy for children young people.

COURSE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT

A five day training programme, plus four 2 hour follow up supervision sessions, delivered by two highly experienced educational psychologists. The course covers:

  • IMPORTANCE OF EMOTIONAL LITERACY AND RAISING AWARENESS IN SCHOOLS

  • SELF-ESTEEM AND EMOTIONAL REGULATION
  • BEREAVEMENT AND LOSS
  • SOCIAL SKILLS AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION
